Unicaucano Student, Your Moment to Decide Has Arrived

The University of Cauca calls on students to elect their representatives to the collegiate bodies of the Central Level on April 8, 2025.

Through Resolution R – 0196 of February 18, 2025, the University of Cauca calls on the student body to elect representatives to the Superior Council, Academic Council, and Culture and Welfare Council.

Candidate registration, which took place from February 18 to March 18, concludes with the election process that will take place on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, through the institutional voting system SIVOT, between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM.

According to the mentioned administrative act, the requirements for candidacy to the different corporations are as follows:

Be a regular student of the institution in Popayán or from the Regionalized Programs.

Have completed and approved at least 50% of the respective academic program, with a GPA of no less than 3.5.

Not be sanctioned with cancellation of registration, expulsion, or criminal penalties.

The representation will start on April 18, 2025, and students will be able to deliberate and mobilize without any restrictions to promote a democratic, participatory, and equitable electoral debate in accordance with university principles.

For the representation of students on the Superior Council, the following candidates are proposed: Joan Sebastián Salazar Ortiz from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences; Luna Sofía Henao and Juan José Ponce Sandoval from the Faculty of Law, Political Sciences, and Social Sciences; and María Paula Barrera Muñoz from the Faculty of Electronic Engineering and Telecommunications.

For the Academic Council, students Laura Melisa Meza Urbano and Wilder Bonilla Díaz from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences are running, with Wilder Bonilla Díaz representing the regionalized programs. Additionally, Angélica María Escobar Ahón and Astrid Carolina Galíndez Hoyos from the Faculty of Law, Political Sciences, and Social Sciences are candidates.

For the Culture and Welfare Council, the candidates are students María Del Mar Rojas Castrillón from the Faculty of Arts; Lucía Cristina Bambague Orozco from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences; and Laura Vanessa Muñoz Dueñas from the Faculty of Natural, Exact, and Educational Sciences.

Students of the University of Cauca will participate through electronic, universal, uninominal, and secret voting, and will choose from these candidates for a statutory period of one year in the three collegiate bodies of the Central Level.

It should be clarified that, for this election, in accordance with Article Sixth and Article Seventh Numeral 6 of Resolution R-0200 of April 13, 2021, and in line with the certification issued by the Division of Admissions, Registration, and Academic Control, the number of students eligible to vote will be as follows:

  • Students from Regionalized Programs: 1,949
  • Students from Popayán: 14,233
  • Total Students of the Institution: 16,182
