A legacy that remains in the heart of the Physiotherapy program
With the warmth that defines her and the professionalism that has accompanied her throughout her career, Professor Angélica Patricia Chamorro Arrieta prepares to close one chapter and begin another: her retirement! From the University of Cauca, where we firmly believe that our people are our most valuable asset, we extend our deepest gratitude for her 25 years of service to the university community and her lasting mark on the Physiotherapy program.
Since the year 2000, Professor Patricia Chamorro has been an essential part of the Physiotherapy program, leaving an indelible mark on every student who passed through her classrooms. A physiotherapist trained at the National University of Colombia, with postgraduate degrees in Social Management and a Master’s in Interdisciplinary Development Studies, Professor Patricia not only shares her vast experience but also her passion and unwavering commitment to training new generations in this prestigious house of thought.

With more than three decades of professional experience and 25 years dedicated to university teaching, her career has been marked by exceptional effort. She has coordinated the program, led quality assurance processes for nine years, and actively participated in the program’s three accreditation processes. Moreover, she is a recognized reference in the field of neurorehabilitation, where she has excelled as a researcher and educator. Her legacy is a living testimony to the positive impact that a teacher can have when fully committed to their field.
But beyond roles and achievements, her legacy lives in the words of those who shared classrooms and academic life with her. As Professor Diana Rivera, a graduate of the program, former student, and now colleague, says: “Professor Patricia is an extremely intelligent woman, a distinguished professional in the neurological area. She strikes a beautiful balance between pragmatism and sensitivity. She is strict but has a great sense of humor, and her leadership is warm. She was always a reference and a very good colleague—funny, outgoing, serious, someone who calls for order… but also breaks it with her joy.”

Indeed, the University of Cauca not only transforms lives through education but also makes dreams possible through collegiality, friendships, and the hearts that meet in this space, which for many feels like home. In this regard, Professor Diana fondly recalls the leadership of this special Unicaucana during accreditation processes: “She is a committed woman, who wears the jersey with pride, passionate about knowledge, about researching and staying current. She is an example for many professors and graduates. She has carried with pride the name of being a professor in the Physiotherapy Program.”
Likewise, and with a tone of admiration and affection, Professor Diana sends a message that summarizes the feelings of the entire community: “We wholeheartedly hope that this new stage comes with peace, happiness, and well-being. That she can dedicate time to herself, to her loved ones, to enjoy what working life sometimes does not allow. Her legacy remains, and her name will always be linked to the affection, gratitude, and respect of those who walked this path with her.”

It is only fitting, then, that as the Alma Mater of Cauca, we celebrate Professor Patricia’s long career. Today, on behalf of our community, we acknowledge her dedication and wish her the very best in every step ahead, confident that life will continue to give her reasons to smile. Thank you so much, Professor Patricia: may this new chapter be filled with joyful moments and stories to share! At Unicauca, your home, the legacy you leave behind will always remain.
