Arqui Exhi-Visiones 2025, an event to reflect on Architecture and Society at Unicauca
Architecture students at the University of Cauca, a program currently progressing toward High-Quality Accreditation, presented their research projects for evaluation and reflection on the subject.
A total of 180 architecture projects were presented by students from this academic program at the University of Cauca during the third edition of Arqui Exhi-Visiones. The students showcased the projects they developed throughout the 2025 semester in various courses and research assignments.
According to Professor Víctor Ignacio Muñoz, Arqui Exhi-Visiones highlights the work of Unicauca students from first to ninth semester, showcasing the knowledge they gain in the classroom. “It is an event that fosters integration among professors, students, guest architects, and the general community, demonstrating the quality of training our future graduates receive in the program.”

Architecture is one of the youngest programs at the University of Cauca. In its seven years of existence, it is moving steadily toward High-Quality Accreditation. Arqui Exhi-Visiones reflects the internal dynamics that have emerged in pursuit of excellence within this academic community.
During the exhibitions, Architecture students present the ideas and technical foundations of their projects to external juries and the attending community. These projects are enriched by the feedback they receive. “To see a structure, concrete, and bricks generate society, cohesion, and respectful debate of ideas is wonderful for both an architect and a citizen,” the professor adds.

For Erick David Campo Gómez, a sixth-semester Architecture student, Arqui Exhi-Visiones is the result of what they’re receiving from their professors. “They train us as people first, helping us understand the qualities of the territory, and creating spaces for dialogue and connection with its inhabitants, so that from this, we can envision our professional role.”
Paula Andrea Chacón Fajardo, a seventh-semester student, says the projects presented are the outcome of workshops that provided them with strong foundations. “Sometimes, the level of rigor is tough, which is a challenge that has helped us grow a lot. Personally, it has taught me patience and discipline. Demanding more of myself has been essential for my personal development. We’re increasingly encouraged to ask: Who will inhabit the space? How will we design for those people? Because ultimately, they are the ones who will live there. It was very hard work—but seeing the results makes it all worth it.”

Professor Julio César Diago, from the Faculty of Civil Engineering, the academic unit to which the Architecture program belongs, says Arqui Exhi-Visiones showcases the maturity the program has gained and its consolidation over time. “The program began seven years ago, and this is a way of demonstrating the relevance of the University of Cauca’s decision to offer this professional training.”
Architecture is an inherently human discipline, emphasizes architect Víctor Ignacio Muñoz. From that perspective, professionals in the field see their projects and proposals as opportunities to build a better society by materializing their ideas. “Today’s architect is a deeply social being, aligned with the humanistic vision of the profession. And these are the kinds of professionals we are training at the Alma Mater of the Caucanos.”
