Linguist and researcher of the Basque Country will visit the University of Cauca.
Andoni Barreña Agirrebeitia will stay at institution four a period of months supporting the academic activities of a graduate program of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences.
The Basque Language professor at the University of Salamanca and chairman of the Non-Governmental Organization for Cooperation Linguistic identity, Garabide, emphasized the importance of the native languages and the contribution of indigenous peoples to this type of academic proposals.
"This graduate program allows for reflection on the linguistic and cultural diversity and the thousands of years accumulated that are housed in the territories, bounded history that we can not afford to lose," he said.
Tulio Rojas, professor of anthropology and director of the Linguistic Group, Educational and Socio-Cultural Studies of the Colombian Southwest, Gelps, said that the departments of Linguistics, Anthropology, Intercultural Studies and Systems lead the proposed program.
"It's a proposal that involves various stakeholders and receives imput from organizations and researchers from Peru, Bolivia and the Basque Country with the purpose of strengthening the Master that plans to open in 2015," he said.
