Ethnic Education Program

The Ethnic-education program is part of the Department of intercultural studies, which is part of the Faculty of Natural and Exact Sciences and Education at the University of Cauca. The Agreement No. 004 of April 13, 2011 issued by the Academic Council approved the existing curriculum.  The program was awarded the Qualified Registry No. 6676 of August 12, 2011 issued by the Ministry of National Education and its registered with the National Information System of Higher Education (SINES).

During the implementation years the program has responded consistently and relevantly to the educational needs of different regional socio-cultural groups. The program has participated in several activities related to the analysis of ethno education as a knowledge educational field with innovative experiences.  The program focuses on understanding the current moment in which we live where it is increasingly important to understand our history and cultural traditions.  These traditions are part of our complex reality of our country.  Ethno-education opens up new prospects of education by exploring different ways of interpreting the world from the point of view Indigenous, Afro-American and the complex urban mestizo population.  Ethno - education has a lot of possibilities as a degree and there is a high demand of professionals.

Ethno-education is a program specially designed for the professional training of basic education teachers; in particular the ones that will be interested on working on educational and cultural institutions that represent our cultural diversity.
